As any one that knows me, knows, I am a Mac Addict. I live, eat, breathe all things Apple. Love them.
This passion ignited an idea a while ago, that I’m thinking of pursuing in 2012… to become Apple Certified (no, not certifiably as my hubby might think!) as a Mac Consultant. With the product line finding an increasingly larger audience, I’m finding many of my PC pals jumping ship for the Apple technologies – but then often don’t have anyone to rely on to help them transition. If assistance is found in the area, the other side I’ve experienced first hand, is that it isn’t always a pleasant experience. Techies have a way of talking over you, leaving you feeling sub-par for some reason. I really hate that. We’re not stupid people, we just need information and maybe some fundamental training sometimes to get us started.
Apple has an outstanding network of Apple support staff that is available at no charge for the first 90 days of purchase and then available long term with a support contract. I’ve always found these guys to be first-rate and exceedingly eager to share and help. But, calling them is a bit of an ordeal, and generally speaking, I find I’ll only call as a last resort. With Mac in a growing market place, I’ve thought that in our area, it would just be nice to have someone local to call upon for Q&A, support, etc. And, in the instances where I’ve had friends jump ship from PC to Apple, it has seemed that they could really benefit from having someone just sit with them for awhile to get their bearings. You can teach an old dog new tricks – but really, you gotta give the dog something to chew on! A little security goes a long way.
After starting back with the Kelly Newspaper group a few years ago (papers include the Banner, Tribune and Cass Co Reporter) the scope of work with Macs has intensified and broadened – and has always left me feeling that if I can do this much through school of hard knocks… how much more could be done if a person actually became trained? Could be very interesting. So, I’m thinking of attending a few Apple courses and becoming certified for Apple consulting in our area.
This all leaves me wondering… Am I the only Mac Addict in the area? I know I’m not, but we’re a select group that you can’t necessarily identify by a label on their head (maybe we should all have the iconic Apple tattooed to our foreheads!). So, I thought I’d post a fun little survey to see who might be out there.
Thanks! Give me feedback guys…. you think something like this would be good in the area?
